We recognize that some of our young patients may feel anxious or apprehensive about receiving dental care, or they may not be able to sit still during previous appointments. Dr. Lora and her staff work hard to make sure that your child has a comfortable, positive experience, and that’s why we are pleased to offer sedation dentistry for those patients needing a little extra comfort during treatment. Feeling anxious about receiving dental care should never prevent having a beautiful, healthy smile.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Some children need a little extra help making it through their dental appointment.  If your child is anxious and/or has several teeth that need treatment, conscious sedation may be the best option for your child.  Your child will be given an oral medication in a cup to drink and they will become drowsy and feel really tired. Dr. Lora and her team are with your child during the procedure and are continuously monitoring your child during the procedure.

General Anesthesia

We may recommend general anesthesia for your child due to a gag-reflex, the extent of decay, the age of your child.  With general anesthesia, your child is completely asleep, just as having tonsils removed or tubes in their ears.  General anesthesia is performed once a month in our office with an anesthesiologist.  You will be able to walk your child to the treatment room and be with them as they fall asleep and we will bring you back to the recovery room to be with your child as they wake up.
